What happens if (and when) newspapers die?

This article is long, but relevant to all of us who care about journalism. The big question is, what happens if and when newspapers die?

If the newspaper died I don't think that people would know much about what is happening in the world. Some people choose to read the newspaper rather then watch the news on the television. If the newspaper died, people would be missinformed about the world and would not know what to do or think. I think that the economy would actually get worse because the newspaper actually advertises deals and gives out coupons to different department stores. With no newspaper, the stores are not getting any service.

The whole concept of newspapers 'dying' is one that truthfully may happen. Lately in the world people have become too dependent on things like computers, cell phones, and other technological gadgets. It is rather easy to surf the web to figure out the headlines of the day but the whole dependency on technology is becoming ludicrous. Like many older people that I have met have said: "Technology is going to turn on you some day" I believe that is the truth. Computers break, keyboards jam and then what? You whine about not getting to find what the news headlines are. That's why paper was invented and should still be used. (I know I rambled.)
